The tradition of doing an Ins & Outs lists at end of every year to bring in the new year, has been around for some time. However, I don’t recall seeing it so actively mentioned on social media platforms as much as I have lately. The trend is to use an Ins & Outs list for goal setting.
Well, I’m jumping on the trend. Here’s why I believe it is a great way to hold yourself accountable for what you’ve set out to achieve.
Tying an out with an in aligns with the replacement theory of habits. In which it’s theorized that the best way to break a bad habit is by replacing it with a new one.
The list focuses on positive actions, as those mentioned under “in” will likely lean towards being constructive.
A part of the trend seems to be sharing the list on social networks which adds a layer of accountability.
Provides an avenue to move out of comfort zones and into a space that challenges you in the best way.

Here’s my Ins/Outs list:

I know there are some who are not enthused about the new year, over exposing yourself to news and politics can result in that feeling. But I believe the outcome of a year is by and large dependent on ourselves. Let’s do what we can to make it great.
Love,
