Commonalities in a Man’s Online Dating Profile

You may call me a serial online dater. Plenty of fish, tinder, and match are a few that I’ve explored. Even though I haven’t had many online dates, given my paranoia with the whole idea, I have viewed a ton of dating profiles from my counterparts. To all the men, I’d like to share some annoying commonalities with these profiles.

1. the fish photo

I just don’t get the fascination. Am I supposed to be impressed by the size of fish caught. My annoyance might steam from the fact that I don’t eat sea food but the amount of fish photos on these dating profiles is ridiculous.

2. Gym/ shirtless photo

Personally, I can tell how fit you are with a shirt on. Save some reveals for after we meet.

3. Group pics

There is nothing wrong with a group pic but when a profile is full of group pics only and I have to guess which guy the profile belongs to then be disappointed that it’s not the guy I was hoping, there’s a problem.

4. The typical bio description

I’m speaking of the ones that say nothing about the guy’s character. Examples, “Oh, I travel; I go to the gym 5 days a week; I want this type of women; who cares who I am; I don’t like the bio section so, if you want to know something just ask.”

5. Every pic of you is with sunglasses and no smile (no teeth shown)

Call me crazy but I like to know that you have a full set of teeth and eyes that function and even if you don’t, be honest about that upfront.

A lot of critique could be said regarding my dating profiles over the years and by no means am I a model. The point of this blog is just to express my opinion of what isn’t impressive when viewing a man’s dating profile.

What I am impressed with are the guys that keep it simple. One selfie (no sunglasses and with a smile) and a full body pic with a bio that says something interesting out themselves (ex. While I have a 9 to 5, I enjoy golfing or playing an instrument in my spare time). Comment if you agree, disagree, or have ones you’d like to add.
